Honouring Heroes: A Heartfelt D-Day Remembrance Event at The Limes Care Home
The Limes Care Home recently commemorated D-Day with a special event organised by our Activity Coordinator, Hayley. This D-Day remembrance was particularly moving for our residents. Molly, Elaine, and Mary watched the 80th memorial ceremony on TV, bringing back poignant memories, especially for Molly, who was 6 years old during D-Day. Molly shared with Hayley how the veteran’s stories and the marching bands were highlights of her day.
To honour D-Day, our residents participated in various activities, creating memorial glass jars with LED tealights and crafting paper plate poppies. These decorations, along with displays around our care home, honoured those who served. Additionally, residents read and discussed a book of war poetry, fostering meaningful conversations.
Our D-Day celebration exemplified The Limes Care Home’s dedication to honouring the past and providing enriching experiences for our residents. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this day memorable.
Thank you to all who joined us in this meaningful D-Day remembrance at The Limes Care Home.
