At Springfield Manor, we are dedicated to creating a vibrant and joyful environment for our residents all year round. This week, our activity room was filled with creativity and laughter as our residents participated in a stained glass art project led by our enthusiastic Activity Coordinator, Megan.
A Creative Afternoon with Megan and Our Residents
Megan loves inspiring our residents to explore their creativity, and this week was no exception. The activity involved making beautiful stained glass pieces using acetate and tissue paper, which now decorate our activity room windows. Megan guided the residents through each step, helping them to create unique and colourful designs.
Dennis, a former painter and decorator, was in his element, carefully applying glue to his and Megan’s tissue paper creations. Megan admired Dennis’s attention to detail and was thrilled to see him so engaged in the activity. She also worked closely with Ken, who impressed everyone with his intricate designs and keen eye for colour. Megan helped him select the perfect shades to bring his detailed shapes to life, making sure his creative vision was fully realized.
Barbara, one of our residents, requested a butterfly outline for her stained glass piece. Megan, always eager to assist, drew a beautiful butterfly, which Barbara then filled with vibrant colours. The collaboration between Barbara and Megan highlighted the supportive and encouraging atmosphere we strive to create at Springfield Manor. Meanwhile, Elizabeth was inspired by Megan’s suggestion to trace her hand and make a stained-glass handprint. With Megan’s guidance, Elizabeth chose bright and cheerful colours that made her handprint stand out.
After all the pieces were finished, Megan displayed the residents’ artwork on the windows, adding a splash of colour to our activity room. To make the space even more lively, Megan and Elizabeth decorated the whiteboard and windows with artwork from the past month, ensuring every resident’s contribution was celebrated and appreciated.
