Last week, residents at The Limes Care Home in Driffield enjoyed a delightful taste of Hull Fair, right in the comfort of their home. The day was filled with laughter, games, and nostalgia as the care team brought all the fun of the fair to the residents.
Hayley, our talented Activity Coordinator, added a surprise twist by taking on the role of “Mystic Hayley,” telling fortunes and providing a playful atmosphere. Alongside the fortune-telling, there were classic fair games like hook-a-duck, ring toss, and tin can alley, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Resident Moss couldn’t resist the excitement of hook-a-duck, playing multiple times and winning plenty of sweets. John, Lydia, and Molly also got involved, picking out their favourite treats like marshmallows, chocolate, and brandy snaps—bringing back fond memories of real fair visits from their younger days.
The fun continued with tin can alley, where John showed off his skills, knocking down tins left and right. Cicely and Sylvia gave their best efforts at ring toss, and no one walked away empty-handed. The care team, led by Hayley, kept the energy high as they cheered on the residents and kept the games running smoothly.
To top off the day, resident Jane decided to join in on the fortune-telling, predicting a bright future for Ellie, our Activity Lead, complete with promises of good fortune and more children!
Molly later reflected on the afternoon, saying how much she enjoyed the lighthearted atmosphere, especially the sweets and brandy snaps, which took her back to fond memories of fairs past.
