This week, we celebrated the remarkable retirement of Suzie, known affectionately as Floozy, who has dedicated an incredible 37 years to The Elms Care Home in Louth.

This week marked the end of an era at The Elms Care Home in Louth, as we celebrated the retirement of our much-loved colleague Suzie, affectionately known as Floozy, after an incredible 37 years of dedicated service. Suzie has been a cornerstone of our community, providing exceptional care to residents and inspiring her colleagues with her professionalism and compassion.

Suzie began her career at The Elms in 1987, taking on the role of nurse in our advanced dementia community. Over the years, she became well-known for her firm yet fair approach, training countless new staff members, including her twin sister Trisha, who joined the team 20 years ago after a long career in banking. Trisha, like so many others, regards Suzie as a mentor and inspiration.

Suzie’s dedication to our residents and staff was clear in every aspect of her work. She took great pride in caring for those living with dementia, ensuring they received the support and compassion they needed. In recent years, Suzie stepped back into a care assistant role, continuing to provide the same high level of care and kindness that she had always shown.

Although Suzie hoped for a quiet retirement, the team at The Elms made sure to give her a proper send-off. Surrounded by colleagues, many of whom she trained, Suzie was celebrated for her outstanding contribution to the care home. The event was a heartfelt tribute to a woman who has spent her life caring for others and making a positive difference.

Now, in retirement, Suzie is looking forward to enjoying time in her garden, spending more time with family and friends, and continuing her passion for adopting retired racing greyhounds. She has already made plans to welcome another greyhound into her life, further demonstrating her compassionate nature. Although Suzie is stepping away from her day-to-day duties, she has promised that this is not “goodbye” but “see you later” as she plans to stay in touch and visit her old colleagues.

Suzie’s retirement is a testament to the positive, supportive environment at The Elms. Her 37 years of service reflect the strong community and rewarding career opportunities we offer to those who join our team. Suzie’s legacy will continue to inspire staff and bring comfort to residents for years to come.
